Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what Lynex collects, why, how it's used and protected, and the choices you have — including for Marketplace and Services listings, where you may be sharing information with other users, not just with us.
1. Information We Collect
Account & profile. Name, email, password (hashed by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text), profile photo, job title, company, bio, location, and any social links you add.
Contact details. If you provide them, phone number, address, and date of birth. These are stored separately from your public profile and are only ever visible to your accepted connections, never to the public.
Content you create. Posts, comments, messages, job applications and resumes, Marketplace listings and their photos, Services listings, and your interactions (likes, follows, saves) with other users' content.
Marketplace & Services data. When you list an item or service, the title, description, price, category, condition, and location you provide are shown publicly. When you contact a seller or provider, that opens a direct message thread — see Section 6.
Usage & device data. Pages viewed, features used, approximate location (derived from IP or a location string you enter — we do not track precise GPS location), device/browser type, and timestamps. Collected via Google Analytics, only after you consent to it — see Section 5.
2. How We Use It
To operate the platform: authenticate you, display your profile and content to other users, power search and AI-assisted job matching, enable real-time messaging, and show your Marketplace/Services listings to other members — including on a map, for listings where a location is provided.
To keep the platform safe: detect and act on abuse, spam, fraudulent listings, or Terms violations; respond to reports; and enforce blocks between users. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models beyond the assistant feature described in Section 7.
3. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure). Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS); data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure provider. Access to your account is protected by our authentication system, and database access rules restrict most of your private data (contact details, saved items, likes) so that only you can read or write it.
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to Lynex. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
4. Third Parties We Share Data With
We don't sell your data. We do use a small number of service providers ("processors") to run Lynex, each only with the data needed to perform their function:
- Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, and push notifications.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics, only after you accept analytics cookies (Section 5).
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — converts a location you enter (e.g. a city) into map coordinates, for Marketplace and Services location display. No account data is sent, only the location text.
- Vercel — hosting, and the AI Gateway used to route requests to the AI assistant and job-matching features (Section 7).
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Lynex or our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'll notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Cookies
Strictly necessary — an authentication cookie that keeps you signed in. This is always active; the platform doesn't function without it.
Analytics — Google Analytics cookies, used to understand feature usage and improve the product. These are off by default and only activate if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit; you can decline, and can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site. We do not run advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Marketplace & Services — What Buyers and Sellers See
Lynex is a listing and messaging platform — we don't process payments or hold funds, and we're not a party to any transaction (see our Terms of Service, Section 5). Because of that, some information is necessarily shared directly between buyers and sellers:
- A listing's title, description, price, photos, and general location are public to anyone using Lynex, not just your connections.
- When you message a seller or provider to ask about a listing, your name, profile photo, and messages are visible to them, and theirs to you — the same as any other direct message on Lynex.
- We don't share your phone number, address, or date of birth with a buyer or seller unless you choose to send it to them yourself in a message.
- You're responsible for what you disclose to another user when arranging a sale or service (e.g. a meetup location) — that exchange happens directly between you, outside of anything Lynex stores or controls beyond the message thread itself.
7. AI Features
The Lynex AI assistant and AI-matched job recommendations send relevant profile or query data (never your full private contact details) to an AI model provider via a routing service, solely to generate a response or a match score for you. That data is not used to train the underlying models, and isn't retained by Lynex beyond what's needed to show you the result.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and the content tied to it (posts, listings, messages you sent) are removed from public view; some data may be retained for a limited period where needed for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Deleting a single Marketplace or Services listing removes it immediately from search and browsing, but message threads referencing it are kept as part of your conversation history unless you delete them separately.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most of your data directly from your profile and settings; for anything else, or to exercise a right not covered by in-app tools, contact us at the address below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children's Privacy
Lynex is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
Lynex is operated using infrastructure providers (Firebase/Google Cloud, Vercel) that may process data in multiple regions, including outside your own country. Where this involves a transfer of personal data across borders, we rely on our providers' standard contractual and security safeguards.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email before they take effect; the "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
